The Huffington Post reports that Cher spoke with GLAAD’s Anthony Ramos this week.
The iconic singer/actress promoted the film, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” whch she's featured in after an 8-year hiatus from movies.
Cher plays Ruby Sheridan, mother to Donna (Meryl Streep and Lily James) and grandma to Sophie (Amanda Seyfried).
Cher admitted to GLAAD that when she watches a movie she "wants it to be great."
She explained, "But if it’s not, I start picking it apart. I can’t help myself, and then it gets ruined. But with this, I think you’re swept away in their excitement. I think that it’s just pure joy and fabulous.”
Reports suggest that the movie musical will appeal to one of Cher's core fan bases, the LGBTQ community.
The musical legend recalled that she was 12 when she first felt a kinship towards gay men.
She added, "I came home from school, and there were these two guys in our living room ... They were talking to my mom and her best friend. They were so happy and excited about everything ... ― so animated. And I thought, ‘These guys are much more fun than the regular men that come over to visit.’”
