Notre-Dame Officials Could Have Prevented The Fire From Being So Bad
It’s possible that officials could have prevented or lessened the intensity of the Notre-Dame Cathedral fire. The New York Times reported that officials decided to not install firewalls and sprinkler systems. Many similar buildings in Europe and the U.S. have been updated with these necessary precautions. According to Business Insider, the fire broke out on April 15 near the spire, in the cathedral’s attic. Many of the beams have been there since the 12th or 13th century, making them more susceptible to fire.
