Toddler With Down Syndrome Learns New Words Through the Power of Music

A mother of a two-year-old boy born with Down syndrome witnessed the power of music when she saw her daughter playing guitar and singing to him as he happily joined in and sang and reacted to his family’s voices for the first time. Amanda Bowman Gray shared the video to Facebook on January 15, writing that her son Bo, who is 25 months old, only knew how to say 12 words. In the video, Bo can be heard singing the words to You Are My Sunshine along with his sister. “Every word he has learned has been through music and singing,” Bowman Gray wrote. The song is also special to the family as Gray and her husband Caleb sang the song to Bo when he was recovering in the hospital from heart surgery. She shared video of the moment to her Facebook page, writing, “This was the first time that he moved as he reacted to the familiarity of the song and our voices,” and added that the tune had become Bo’s “theme song.” Credit: Amanda Bowman Gray via ViralVids
